Welcome to Friends of the Upper Mississippi Fishery Services

 Fresh off the press:
The staff from the Genoa Fish Hatchery will be conducting coded wire tagging lake sturgeon. This project is part of the long term monitoring program to track released fish in the Mississippi River, Missouri River, and Red River of the north systems. Volunteers will get hands on experience micro-tagging this uniquefish as well as gain insights into culture techniques and requirements of this species.
Call the hatchery office at 689-2605 to join in the fun.
There is also an opportunity to help as a volunteer at the Vernon County Fair September 15-19 managing the Genoa Fish Hatchery booth. If interested contact Darla about that as well.

Our next event is an October 8th fish fry at the Eco-Park in La Crosse.
